• This is a terroir-driven wine, made from grapes sourced from the highest part of the vineyard at 900 metres (2,952 feet) above sea level. The soils contain a deep layer of clay and limestone with a medium deep 5cm layer of limestone greda-clay at the surface, which transforms the zones where it is present into great ripening terroir that in turn produces wonderfully well-structured wines with very distinctive tasting characteristics.
• Made 100% with Tempranillo grapes sourced from vines yielding no more than 4,500kg per hectare.
• Temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel vats.
• Unfiltered and unfined, the wine is put into barrel and aged for 15 months in 80% French oak barrels (Allier, Nevers and Tronçais) and 20% American oak barrels (Missouri). 25% of the barrels are replaced with new ones each year.
• Before bottling the wine undergoes a very light filtering and fining.
• Tasting comments: A deep cherry colour with a deep garnet rim. The nose reveals hints of forest fruit jam, spices, minerals and subtle oak which enhances its complexity. On the palate, it is full with intense fruit character and has lively but elegant attractive tannins.
